Hindustan Times · entertainment

Netflix has released a new series adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel 'East of Eden,' developed and largely scripted by Zoe Kazan. The series tackles the entire text, unlike the 1955 film adaptation by Elia Kazan, which focused only on the final section. Florence Pugh delivers a standout performance as Cathy Ames, a character often described as monstrous and the personification of malice. The adaptation restores the character of Lee, a Chinese-American scholar, who was omitted from the earlier film, with Hoon Lee earning praise for his portrayal.
