FDA Seizes 510kg Adulterated Sweets During Navaratra Festival
Times of India · health
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized and destroyed 510kg of adulterated khoya and pedhas in Tuljapur during the Navaratra festival. The sweets, intended for devotees, were found to be made from palm oil and hydrogenated vegetable oil instead of milk derivatives. FDA teams raided multiple sweet-making units, collecting samples and confiscating products lacking proper labelling and registration. This action, part of the 'Safe Food Safe Maharashtra' campaign, highlights a significant threat to public health and financial fraud within the food industry.
