Karnataka Proposes Ban on Coaching for Under-15s, Caps Daily Classes at Five Hours

Karnataka has proposed new draft rules to regulate private coaching centres, aiming to curb academic stress. The proposed regulations prohibit the admission of students under 15 years of age or those who haven't completed Class 10. Daily coaching sessions, including tests and doubt-clearing, will be capped at a maximum of five hours. Institutes must operate only between 6 am and 9 pm and cannot conduct classes during regular school hours. The draft also mandates mental health counselors and periodic workshops for students and parents.

कर्नाटक ने निजी कोचिंग सेंटरों को रेगुलेट करने के लिए नए ड्राफ्ट नियम प्रस्तावित किए हैं, जिसका मकसद अकादमिक तनाव को कम करना है। प्रस्तावित नियमों के तहत 15 साल से कम उम्र के या जिन्होंने 10वीं कक्षा पूरी नहीं की है, ऐसे छात्रों के एडमिशन पर रोक लगा दी जाएगी। रोजाना कोचिंग सेशन, जिसमें टेस्ट और डाउट-क्लीयरिंग शामिल हैं, अधिकतम पांच घंटे तक सीमित रहेंगे। इंस्टीट्यूट सुबह 6 बजे से रात 9 बजे के बीच ही संचालित हो सकेंगे और स्कूल के नियमित समय के दौरान क्लास नहीं ले पाएंगे। ड्राफ्ट में छात्रों और अभिभावकों के लिए मेंटल हेल्थ काउंसलर और समय-समय पर वर्कशॉप कराना भी अनिवार्य किया गया है।
