Indian Stocks See Wild Swings; Sensex, Nifty Recover Losses
Economic Times Markets · stocks
Indian stock markets experienced significant volatility on Wednesday, with the Sensex and Nifty closing higher after a sharp sell-off that erased over Rs 8 lakh crore from BSE-listed companies. The Sensex recovered from its pre-CAS session levels, while the Nifty saw an even wilder swing, jumping over 2% before paring gains. Analysts attribute the market's performance to elevated crude prices and persistent FII selling, overshadowing optimism from India-US trade talks. Profit-booking intensified in autos, financials, metals, and realty sectors due to inflation concerns.
