Dhanteras, Diwali Shopping Rush Chokes Delhi Roads, Slows Traffic

Delhi experienced severe traffic congestion on Friday due to the festive rush for Dhanteras and Diwali. Shoppers thronged markets, causing gridlock on arterial roads across south, central, and north Delhi. Key areas like Lajpat Nagar, Connaught Place, and Chandni Chowk saw bumper-to-bumper traffic as vehicles struggled to find parking. The situation was exacerbated by narrow market roads and illegal roadside parking, which reduced available carriageway. Congestion also affected roads around railway stations and bus terminals as people travelled for the holidays.

धनतेरस और दिवाली के लिए त्योहारी भीड़ के कारण शुक्रवार को दिल्ली में भारी ट्रैफिक जाम का अनुभव हुआ। खरीदार बाजारों में उमड़ पड़े, जिससे दक्षिण, मध्य और उत्तरी दिल्ली की मुख्य सड़कों पर जाम लग गया। लाजपत नगर, कनॉट प्लेस और चांदनी चौक जैसे प्रमुख इलाकों में वाहनों को पार्किंग ढूंढने में संघर्ष करने के कारण भारी ट्रैफिक जाम देखा गया। संकरी बाजार सड़कों और अवैध सड़क किनारे पार्किंग ने उपलब्ध कैरिजवे को कम कर दिया, जिससे स्थिति और खराब हो गई। छुट्टियों के लिए यात्रा करने वाले लोगों के कारण रेलवे स्टेशनों और बस टर्मिनलों के आसपास की सड़कों पर भी भीड़ का असर पड़ा।
