Supreme Court Slams Officials Over Firecracker Ban Implementation, Demands Ground Action

The Supreme Court has stated that issuing orders and guidelines on firecrackers annually is meaningless if officials do not implement them on the ground. A bench emphasized that authorities must take the issue seriously and exercise real control, rather than allowing the directives to become a mockery. While not favouring a complete ban, the court urged strict action and suggested involving celebrities to raise public awareness. The court also noted ongoing internal discussions regarding the use of barium in firecrackers, requesting three weeks for completion.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि पटाखों पर हर साल आदेश और दिशानिर्देश जारी करना तब तक बेकार है जब तक अधिकारी उन्हें ज़मीन पर लागू न करें। एक बेंच ने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि अधिकारियों को इस मुद्दे को गंभीरता से लेना चाहिए और असली नियंत्रण रखना चाहिए, न कि निर्देशों का मज़ाक बनने देना चाहिए। पूरी तरह से प्रतिबंध का समर्थन न करते हुए, अदालत ने सख्त कार्रवाई का आग्रह किया और जन जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए मशहूर हस्तियों को शामिल करने का सुझाव दिया। अदालत ने पटाखों में बेरियम के इस्तेमाल को लेकर चल रही आंतरिक चर्चाओं का भी उल्लेख किया और इसे पूरा करने के लिए तीन सप्ताह का समय मांगा।
