Chandigarh Hospital Underutilised 7 Years On Due To Staff Shortage

Hindustan Times · health

Seven years after its opening, Chandigarh's 100-bed Sector 48 hospital remains underutilised due to a lack of sanctioned posts for doctors and staff. The facility, built for ₹28 crore, relies on a token arrangement of medics from GMCH-32, increasing their workload. This staffing deficit prevents the hospital from fulfilling its purpose of reducing the burden on other city hospitals and ensuring accessible healthcare for residents. Patients often opt for other facilities due to uncertainty about timely treatment, despite the hospital offering OPD services in various departments and basic diagnostic facilities.
