The Indian government has ordered GitHub to remove the Bluetooth-based chat application Bitchat due to security concerns. The app allows communication even without network access, posing a significant risk of misuse. Authorities cited concerns that anti-national elements, terrorist organisations, criminal groups, and cybercriminals could exploit Bitchat to evade lawful detection and continue communication during restrictions.
