Barapullah Phase III Opens After Decade Delay, Fails to Ease Delhi Traffic

The Barapullah elevated road's Phase III, intended to link east and south Delhi, has finally opened after a decade-long delay. Originally planned to ease traffic for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the project faced significant setbacks due to land acquisition issues and litigation. Construction began in April 2015 with a target completion of October 2017, but a dispute over a 2.5-acre private land parcel stalled the final 900 metres.
