Times of India · politics

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has urged alliance partners to prioritize collective victory over seat-sharing negotiations for the upcoming elections. He emphasized unity, stating that the alliance's success is paramount to preventing the BJP's influence and safeguarding democracy, the Constitution, and reservations. Yadav directed party leaders to discuss alliance matters internally, following public remarks that caused friction. Uttar Pradesh is set for a 2027 Assembly election, with the BJP and SP as main contenders. In 2022, BJP won 255 seats, SP secured 111.
