West Bengal Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta has called for the scrapping of the Urban Land Ceiling Act, describing it as an impediment to development. He stated that this law, dating back to the 1970s, has already been abolished in other parts of India. Dasgupta also highlighted barga tenancy as another obstacle to growth, particularly for building factories and logistics hubs. He urged the organized real estate sector to participate in Kolkata's redevelopment, promising to make up for lost time and bring order to the sector.

पश्चिम बंगाल के वित्त मंत्री स्वपन दासगुप्ता ने शहरी भूमि अधिकतम सीमा अधिनियम को विकास में बाधा बताते हुए इसे रद्द करने की मांग की है। उन्होंने कहा कि 1970 के दशक का यह कानून भारत के अन्य हिस्सों में पहले ही खत्म किया जा चुका है। दासगुप्ता ने कारखानों और लॉजिस्टिक्स हब के निर्माण के लिए बार्गा टेनेंसी को भी विकास में एक और बाधा बताया। उन्होंने कोलकाता के पुनर्विकास में संगठित रियल एस्टेट क्षेत्र की भागीदारी का आग्रह किया और वादा किया कि खोए हुए समय की भरपाई की जाएगी और क्षेत्र में व्यवस्था लाई जाएगी।
