Telangana's GST department has flagged over 100 restaurants and eateries for tax irregularities, primarily in Hyderabad. AI-based data analytics uncovered suspected misuse of input tax credits by businesses operating under the concessional 5% GST regime, who are barred from claiming such credits. Additionally, numerous establishments are under scrutiny for allegedly continuing to collect GST from customers even after their registrations were cancelled. The department is assessing the tax impact and will recover outstanding dues and penalties after completing the assessment process.

तेलंगाना के GST विभाग ने हैदराबाद में 100 से ज़्यादा रेस्टोरेंट और खाने-पीने की जगहों पर टैक्स की गड़बड़ी पकड़ी है। AI से मिले डेटा से पता चला है कि जो बिज़नेस 5% GST वाले नियम के तहत आते हैं, वे गलत तरीके से इनपुट टैक्स क्रेडिट का फायदा उठा रहे हैं। ऐसे बिज़नेस को यह क्रेडिट लेने की इजाज़त नहीं है। इसके अलावा, कई जगहों पर तो रजिस्ट्रेशन कैंसिल होने के बाद भी ग्राहकों से GST वसूला जा रहा था। विभाग टैक्स की रकम का अंदाज़ा लगा रहा है और जांच पूरी होने के बाद बकाया रकम और जुर्माना वसूला जाएगा।
