Artists from Kolkata are putting the finishing touches on Ma Durga idols for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. The idols are being crafted at the Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad in Bhosale Nagar and the Pune Kali Bari in Khadki. These idols are traditionally made using a bamboo and straw framework, known as 'kathachaar'. This skeleton is then layered with river clay, called 'Puniya mati', which is mixed with sacred soils. The meticulous process ensures the idols are ready for the festivities.

कोलकाता के कलाकार आगामी दुर्गा पूजा उत्सव के लिए मां दुर्गा की मूर्तियों को अंतिम रूप दे रहे हैं। ये मूर्तियाँ भोसले नगर में बंगाया संस्कृति संसद और खड़की में पुणे कालीबाड़ी में बनाई जा रही हैं। इन मूर्तियों को पारंपरिक रूप से बांस और पुआल के ढांचे से बनाया जाता है, जिसे 'कथाचार' कहते हैं। फिर इस कंकाल पर नदी की मिट्टी, जिसे 'पुनिया माटी' कहा जाता है, को पवित्र मिट्टी के साथ मिलाकर लगाया जाता है। यह विस्तृत प्रक्रिया सुनिश्चित करती है कि मूर्तियाँ उत्सव के लिए तैयार हों।
