Supreme Court to Hear Green Crackers Case After Diwali

The Supreme Court has adjourned hearings on petitions demanding a ban on firecrackers due to pollution. The bench will now hear arguments on the permissible quantity of barium in crackers after Diwali. Petitioners raised concerns about misleading labels on 'green crackers' and the lack of effective verification systems. Amicus curiae highlighted that even green crackers emit pollutants, and doctors are observing severe lung damage in non-smokers. The court noted repeated violations of its orders annually.

प्रदूषण के कारण पटाखों पर प्रतिबंध की मांग करने वाली याचिकाओं पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सुनवाई स्थगित कर दी है। बेंच अब दिवाली के बाद पटाखों में बेरियम की स्वीकार्य मात्रा पर दलीलें सुनेगी। याचिकाकर्ताओं ने 'ग्रीन पटाखों' पर भ्रामक लेबल और प्रभावी सत्यापन प्रणालियों की कमी के बारे में चिंता जताई। एमिकस क्यूरी ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि ग्रीन पटाखों से भी प्रदूषक निकलते हैं, और डॉक्टर धूम्रपान न करने वालों में गंभीर फेफड़ों की क्षति देख रहे हैं। अदालत ने सालाना अपने आदेशों के बार-बार उल्लंघन पर ध्यान दिया।
