Nashik Seeks 25% More Water for 2027 Kumbh Mela

Nashik's civic body has requested an additional 1,605 million cubic feet of water, proposing a total quota of 8,005 MCFT for the period of October 2026 to August 2027. This represents a 25% increase compared to the 6,400 MCFT allocated in the previous cycle. The enhanced demand is to meet the city's regular needs and the significant influx expected during the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Officials estimate routine requirements at 7,370 MCFT, with an additional 635 MCFT specifically for the religious gathering.
