Former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has announced the formation of a new political-military movement called the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN). This new coalition brings together opposition forces, including figures associated with the Rwandan-backed AFC/M23 rebel movement. Kabila announced the FRN on October 12 in Goma, eastern DRC, at his residence. This move places him in direct confrontation with the current President Felix Tshisekedi's government and raises questions about ongoing peace initiatives in the region.
