Telangana Proposes 55% Tax Cut for Tourist Buses to Curb Migration
Times of India · business
Telangana's transport department has proposed a significant 55% reduction in quarterly tax for tourist buses, aiming to stem migration to other states. Over five years, 123 buses left Telangana, costing the state Rs 5.31 crore annually in motor vehicle tax. The proposed cut would lower the tax from Rs 4,000 to Rs 1,800 per seat per quarter. This move seeks to make Telangana competitive with neighbouring states like Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh, which have lower tax rates. The department hopes this will encourage buses to return and register within Telangana.
