The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has identified significant lapses in the management and spending of Odisha's District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds. These funds are designated for the benefit of areas and people affected by mining activities. The audit report revealed systemic shortcomings in assessing, collecting, and monitoring DMF contributions, leading to substantial losses. Projects were sometimes implemented in non-affected villages while directly affected areas received no development, and funds were misused for non-specified purposes.
