Madhya Pradesh HC Grants Anticipatory Bail to Lawyer Accused of Rape

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has granted anticipatory bail to a senior lawyer from Chhatarpur district accused of raping a fellow lawyer on the pretext of marriage. The court observed that the relationship between the parties appeared to be consensual, noting that the victim did not file an FIR until August 3, 2026, despite being in a relationship since 2024. The FIR had also included charges under the SC/ST Act and Freedom of Religion Act.

मध्य प्रदेश हाई कोर्ट ने छतरपुर जिले के एक वरिष्ठ वकील को, शादी का झांसा देकर एक महिला वकील से रेप करने के आरोप में अग्रिम जमानत दे दी है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि दोनों के बीच रिश्ता सहमति से बना लग रहा है। कोर्ट ने यह भी देखा कि पीड़ित ने 2024 से रिश्ता होने के बावजूद 3 अगस्त 2026 तक FIR दर्ज नहीं कराई थी। FIR में SC/ST एक्ट और धर्म की स्वतंत्रता अधिनियम के तहत भी आरोप लगाए गए थे।
