Centre Flags Congress' Past Ties With Ex-Chief Election Commissioners

Union minister Piyush Goyal attacked the Congress, highlighting its past associations with former Chief Election Commissioners. He stated that the party had fielded one CEC against LK Advani and made another, MS Gill, a Union Minister after his tenure. Goyal also pointed out that RK Trivedi was appointed Gujarat Governor shortly after his term as CEC ended. Furthermore, he alleged that Naveen Chawla was appointed CEC by Sonia Gandhi despite a recommendation for his removal. Goyal questioned the Congress's integrity in demanding the current CEC's resignation given this history.

केंद्रीय मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कांग्रेस पर हमला बोलते हुए पूर्व मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्तों के साथ पार्टी के पुराने संबंधों को उजागर किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पार्टी ने एक सीईसी को एलके आडवाणी के खिलाफ खड़ा किया था और दूसरे, एमएस गिल को कार्यकाल के बाद केंद्रीय मंत्री बनाया था। गोयल ने यह भी बताया कि आरके त्रिवेदी को सीईसी के रूप में कार्यकाल समाप्त होने के तुरंत बाद गुजरात का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया था। इसके अलावा, उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि सोनिया गांधी ने नवीन चावला को उनके निष्कासन की सिफारिश के बावजूद सीईसी नियुक्त किया था। गोयल ने इस इतिहास को देखते हुए वर्तमान सीईसी के इस्तीफे की मांग में कांग्रेस की ईमानदारी पर सवाल उठाया।
