Mumbai Koliwada Boundaries to be Marked, Five Others Amended by State Govt

The Maharashtra government has announced that the boundaries of three additional koliwadas, traditional fishing communities in Mumbai, will be demarcated. Furthermore, expanded areas of five previously surveyed koliwadas will be incorporated into their existing boundaries. This decision follows surveys in 23 of 29 identified koliwadas in Mumbai Suburban district, addressing omissions and public representative complaints. Demarcating these boundaries is crucial for protecting fishing communities, resolving land disputes, and preventing traditional settlements from being declared slums for builder benefits.
