Google Strikes Largest Carbon Removal Deal

Google has signed its largest carbon-removal deal with developer Terradot for a project in Brazil. This initiative spans over 200,000 hectares and aims to reduce methane emissions from rice farming while capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide. It is the first large-scale project combining both methane abatement and carbon removal, potentially serving as a model for future climate solutions. The project plans to generate significant methane and carbon-removal credits by 2030 and 2040 respectively.

गूगल ने ब्राज़ील में टेराडॉट के साथ सबसे बड़ा कार्बन-हटाने का समझौता किया है। यह प्रोजेक्ट 2 लाख हेक्टेयर से ज़्यादा में फैला है। इसका मकसद धान की खेती से मीथेन उत्सर्जन कम करना और हवा से कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड सोखना है। यह मीथेन कम करने और कार्बन हटाने वाला पहला बड़ा प्रोजेक्ट है, जो भविष्य के लिए एक मॉडल बन सकता है। 2030 तक मीथेन और 2040 तक कार्बन हटाने के क्रेडिट बनाने की योजना है।
