UP Women Fight Violence, Addiction in Green Saris

Women in Uttar Pradesh, clad in green saris and carrying lathis, are tackling issues like gambling, alcohol abuse, domestic violence, and child marriage in villages. This women-led movement, born from personal struggles with violence and poverty, began in Kushiyari village, Varanasi district. Their visible presence deters wrongdoers, and they also engage in community conversations to resolve issues before they escalate, sometimes assisting women in seeking formal intervention.
