Assam to seek CBI probe into flood cause; employees involved in polygamy to be sacked

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government will request the Centre for a CBI investigation into the exact cause of the devastating floods in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts earlier this year. The government also decided to terminate any employee found involved in polygamy, irrespective of religion, by amending the Assam Service and Discipline Rule. This move aligns with the state's implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. Financial aid distribution to flood victims was also mentioned as being delayed.

असम के मुख्यमंत्री हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा ने घोषणा की है कि राज्य सरकार इस साल की शुरुआत में शिवसागर और चराइदेव जिलों में आई विनाशकारी बाढ़ के सटीक कारणों की सीबीआई जांच के लिए केंद्र से अनुरोध करेगी। सरकार ने असम सेवा और अनुशासन नियम में संशोधन करके किसी भी कर्मचारी को बहुविवाह में लिप्त पाए जाने पर, धर्म की परवाह किए बिना, बर्खास्त करने का भी फैसला किया है। यह कदम राज्य द्वारा समान नागरिक संहिता के कार्यान्वयन के अनुरूप है। बाढ़ पीड़ितों को वित्तीय सहायता के वितरण में भी देरी का उल्लेख किया गया था।
