India Mandates Caller Name Display Service From November 1
Times of India · technology
India's Department of Telecommunications has mandated telecom operators to implement the Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) service starting November 1. This feature will display the caller's name on the recipient's phone, even if the number is not saved, without requiring users to download any app. The service will initially be available on 4G and higher networks. For unsaved domestic numbers, the name displayed will be from the caller's telecom operator's subscriber records. Businesses may be allowed to display a preferred, verified name.
