Times of India · politics
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has rejected MNS chief Raj Thackeray's call to boycott elections, stating that participation is a democratic right and not a correct strategy. This comes amid a political row over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra. Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray led a protest demanding the cancellation of the SIR exercise and questioning the Election Commission's functioning. Chavan also alleged duplicate voters and denial of voting rights to minority and poor voters in the past.
