Kerala Assembly records indicate that Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited had informed the state government in advance about its plan to divest a 49% stake. This contradicts the government's earlier assertion that the Adani Group initiated the proposal without informing them. Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan himself revealed this information in response to an unstarred question. The company submitted an application for prior approval to transfer its equity stake, which is currently being examined by an Empowered Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary.
