Bombay High Court Refuses to Halt Voter List Deletions During SIR Process

Aaj Tak · india

The Bombay High Court has refused to grant an interim stay on the process of deleting voters' names from lists during Maharashtra's SIR process. A petition alleged irregularities and arbitrary removal of names during door-to-door verification. The court noted that the Supreme Court is already hearing a broader case on the matter, with further hearings scheduled. Given the ongoing Supreme Court proceedings, the High Court deemed it inappropriate to conduct parallel hearings or issue orders.
