West Bengal CM Opposes Left Parties' Book Stalls At Durga Puja Pandals

The Hindu · india

Book stalls set up by Left parties at Durga Puja pandals in West Bengal have faced attacks and denial of permission in several locations. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and other Left parties view these stalls as a way to engage with the public during the festival. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has urged organisers not to allow these stalls, stating that parties not associating with the religious significance of Durga Puja should not set them up. This political contest has intensified since 2026.
