Indian, Pacific Oceans Climate Sync Weakening

For centuries, the Indian Ocean's climate closely followed the Pacific's, but this relationship has weakened significantly since the 1980s. Researchers attribute this shift to human-caused warming overwhelming the Pacific's natural influence. Using climate models and paleo-records from corals and tree rings, scientists traced this connection back to the early 1600s. A similar, though temporary, weakening occurred between 1810 and 1850, linked to volcanic eruptions.
