Central armed police forces (CAPFs) discussed how to assess Agniveer merit for induction and their postings to ensure smooth integration before the Union Cabinet approved an overhaul of the Agnipath scheme. Initially, 75% of the first Agniveer batch were to be released, but the Cabinet approved an option for them to serve two additional years. The government had previously announced a 10% Agniveer quota in CAPFs, later increased to 50%, with exemptions from physical tests for some.
