Delhi University Plans Rs 8,000 Crore Hostel Expansion For Over 30,000 Students

The University of Delhi is considering a significant Rs 8,000 crore hostel expansion and redevelopment plan to accommodate over 30,000 students. The proposal, to be presented to the Executive Council on October 13, 2026, allocates Rs 5,157 crore for new constructions and nearly Rs 3,000 crore for demolishing and rebuilding existing facilities. New hostels are planned at Dhaka Complex, Najafgarh, and Surajmal Vihar campuses, while iconic structures like Jubilee Hall will be replaced by taller buildings.

दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी 30,000 से ज़्यादा छात्रों को समायोजित करने के लिए ₹8,000 करोड़ की एक बड़ी हॉस्टल विस्तार और पुनर्विकास योजना पर विचार कर रही है। 13 अक्टूबर 2026 को एग्जीक्यूटिव काउंसिल के सामने पेश किए जाने वाले इस प्रस्ताव में नई इमारतों के लिए ₹5,157 करोड़ और मौजूदा सुविधाओं को गिराकर फिर से बनाने के लिए लगभग ₹3,000 करोड़ आवंटित किए गए हैं। ढाका कॉम्प्लेक्स, नजफगढ़ और सूरजमल विहार परिसरों में नए हॉस्टल की योजना है, जबकि जुबली हॉल जैसी प्रतिष्ठित इमारतों को ऊंची इमारतों से बदला जाएगा।
