Moody's: Fairfax IDBI Bank Takeover to Have Limited Leverage Impact

Moody's expects Fairfax Financial Holdings' acquisition of a majority stake in IDBI Bank to minimally affect its financial leverage. The rating agency cited Fairfax's funding plans and strong liquidity, noting its policy of maintaining at least $1 billion in cash. Fairfax plans to fund the approximately $5.6 billion transaction through various sources, including its operating insurance companies and asset sales. This acquisition, the largest by a foreign investor in India's financial services, is seen as enhancing Fairfax's position in the high-growth Indian market.
