Party president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that youth, students, lawyers, and activists questioning the regime are being detained, accusing the BJP-RSS of cowardice. Leaders like Shashi Tharoor and Ashok Gehlot also condemned the restrictions on dissent and the suppression of voices. Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the right to protest, deeming detentions and internet shutdowns inappropriate for a democratic system.

कांग्रेस पार्टी ने दिल्ली में CEC और SIR के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शनों के दौरान बड़े पैमाने पर की गई गिरफ्तारियों की कड़ी आलोचना की है, इसे 'दबी हुई लोकतंत्र' करार दिया है। पार्टी अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खरगे ने कहा कि सरकार पर सवाल उठाने वाले युवाओं, छात्रों, वकीलों और कार्यकर्ताओं को हिरासत में लिया जा रहा है, और उन्होंने BJP-RSS पर कायरता का आरोप लगाया। शशि थरूर और अशोक गहलोत जैसे नेताओं ने भी असहमति पर लगे प्रतिबंधों और आवाजों के दमन की निंदा की। हिमाचल के सीएम सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू ने विरोध करने के अधिकार पर जोर दिया और कहा कि एक लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था के लिए गिरफ्तारियां और इंटरनेट बंद करना अनुचित है।
