US Sanctions Greek Law Firm for Aiding Iranian Shipping Networks

The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Karnakis & Karnakis, a law firm based in Greece and Panama, for providing legal assistance to Iranian shipping networks for years. The firm allegedly set up shell companies to conceal the true owners of vessels carrying Iranian oil, petrochemicals, and steel. These operations reportedly benefited the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force and the Houthis. The US Treasury Secretary stated that anyone supporting the Iranian regime will be identified and sanctioned.

अमेरिकी ट्रेजरी विभाग ने ग्रीस और पनामा की लॉ फर्म Karnakis & Karnakis पर सालों से ईरानी शिपिंग नेटवर्क को कानूनी मदद देने के लिए प्रतिबंध लगा दिए हैं। फर्म पर आरोप है कि उसने ईरानी तेल, पेट्रोकेमिकल्स और स्टील ले जाने वाले जहाजों के असली मालिकों को छिपाने के लिए शेल कंपनियां बनाईं। इन ऑपरेशनों से कथित तौर पर इस्लामिक रिवोल्यूशनरी गार्ड कॉर्प्स कुड्स फोर्स और हूती को फायदा हुआ। अमेरिकी ट्रेजरी सचिव ने कहा कि जो कोई भी ईरानी शासन का समर्थन करेगा, उसकी पहचान की जाएगी और उस पर प्रतिबंध लगाया जाएगा।
