Roosevelt Oath Reenacted 125 Years Later

Theodore Roosevelt's 1901 presidential inauguration, held in a friend's library after President McKinley's death, was reenacted on September 14, 2026. Performer Joe Wiegand recreated the ceremony in the historic Ansley Wilcox House library in Buffalo. Roosevelt took the 35-word oath hours after McKinley's assassination, wearing borrowed formal clothes. The event offered visitors a chance to experience this significant historical moment firsthand in the original location.
