Wendy's Rejects $1.4 Billion Takeover Bid, Adopts 'Poison Pill'

Times of India · business

Fast-food chain Wendy's has rejected a $1.4 billion takeover offer from an investor group led by billionaire Nelson Peltz, deeming the proposal to be significantly undervalued. The company also implemented a one-year shareholder rights plan, known as a 'poison pill,' to deter further attempts at control without board approval. This defence comes as Wendy's faces declining sales and increasing competition, leading to hundreds of restaurant closures. The investor group, which already owns a substantial stake, offered $7.35 per share for the remaining shares.
