Residents Urge Railways to Build Foot Overbridge Near Mettupalayam Station

Times of India · india

Residents of Mettupalayam have petitioned the Southern Railway's Salem division to construct a foot overbridge or pedestrian subway at the Mettupalayam railway station. They highlighted that approximately 60% of the town's population lives east of the tracks and fears that ongoing station expansion could block existing pathways. Without a new facility, commuters would face a 2km detour, potentially increasing traffic congestion at the Kattoor railway gate. The association also requested the revival of a proposed road overbridge or widening of the existing railway crossing.
