South Africa Deputy Police Chief Resigns Amid Rape and Corruption Charges

Shadrack Sibiya, the deputy head of South Africa's police, has resigned following allegations of corruption and rape, which he denies. Sibiya was set to face a disciplinary hearing but his lawyers submitted his resignation instead. He is currently in prison after being arrested last month for the alleged rape and grooming of a minor. Sibiya has also faced a judicial inquiry investigating corruption and alleged ties to organised crime within the police force. He has denied accusations of receiving cash and gifts from alleged criminals.
