CPI(M) Calls Hartal in 7 Pathanamthitta Villages Over ESA Draft Notification

The CPI(M) has announced a hartal for October 24 in seven villages in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, to protest the Centre's draft Ecologically Sensitive Area (ESA) notification. The party demands the exclusion of these villages, including Chittar and Vadasserikkara, from the notification, citing concerns over farming and construction restrictions. CPI(M) district secretary Raju Abraham stated that the state government has failed to represent the people's interests. The proposed notification could force residents to seek environmental authority approval for daily activities and potentially lead to land abandonment.

सीपीआई(एम) ने केंद्र की पारिस्थितिक रूप से संवेदनशील क्षेत्र (ईएसए) मसौदा अधिसूचना के विरोध में 24 अक्टूबर को केरल के पथनमथिट्टा जिले के सात गांवों में बंद का आह्वान किया है। पार्टी ने चित्तर और वडासेरिक्कारा सहित इन गांवों को अधिसूचना से बाहर करने की मांग की है, खेती और निर्माण पर प्रतिबंधों को लेकर चिंता जताई है। सीपीआई(एम) जिला सचिव राजू अब्राहम ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार लोगों के हितों का प्रतिनिधित्व करने में विफल रही है। प्रस्तावित अधिसूचना निवासियों को दैनिक गतिविधियों के लिए पर्यावरण प्राधिकरण से मंजूरी लेने के लिए मजबूर कर सकती है और संभावित रूप से भूमि छोड़ने का कारण बन सकती है।
