UK to Launch Robotic Claws Mission in 2029 to Capture Dead Satellites

The United Kingdom is preparing a pioneering mission to clear Earth's orbit of defunct satellites. Launching in 2029, the mission will deploy a spacecraft equipped with giant robotic claws designed to capture two dead satellites. These captured satellites will then be guided into the atmosphere to burn up. This initiative, known as the UK Active Debris Removal programme, aims to demonstrate effective methods for removing space junk. The project, developed with the UK Space Agency and ClearSpace UK, seeks to make space operations more sustainable.
