Colorado's Lulu City: A Boomtown That Quickly Became A Ghost Town
Times of India · interesting
Established in 1879 in Colorado's Kawuneeche Valley, Lulu City attracted hundreds of silver prospectors hoping for wealth. By the 1880s, it had developed into a small mining town with shops, saloons, and homes, even boasting regular stagecoach services. However, the mines yielded low-quality ore, and transportation costs made mining unsustainable. Residents began leaving within a few years, and the settlement was abandoned by the 1890s, becoming a ghost town.
