Police in Kochi have invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against Ebin Paul, the accused in the arson attack on the 800-year-old Kadavumbhagam Synagogue in Ernakulam. The anti-terror law was applied due to the sensitive nature of the targeted location. Investigators suspect a larger conspiracy, with evidence suggesting the accused received cryptocurrency payments and conducted reconnaissance. Paul is linked to three other arson incidents in the district, and police are considering a State Anti-Terror Squad investigation. Narcotic substances were also seized from his residence.
