Road Contractors Must Fix Potholes Within 24 Hours Or Face Fines
TOI - Delhi · india
Tamil Nadu's highways department has launched a pilot performance-based contract for road maintenance in Chennai. Contractors must now fix potholes within 24 hours of a complaint or face a notice and fine. Failure to comply for a third time could lead to contract termination. This initiative aims to improve road conditions by holding contractors accountable for timely repairs. The department plans to expand the system to the entire city if this pilot proves successful, with tenders worth Rs 44 lakh and Rs 48 lakh already floated for key road stretches.
