Shreyas Iyer's Captaincy Tested in Challenging New Zealand Tour

TV9 Hindi · sports

Former Indian batting coach Abhishek Nayar believes a successful New Zealand tour could help Shreyas Iyer shed comparisons with Suryakumar Yadav. Nayar stated that winning abroad would earn Iyer more respect as a leader, contrasting it with Suryakumar's T20 World Cup win in familiar conditions. Iyer's captaincy has seen mixed results, including losses to Ireland and England, but also wins against Zimbabwe, Japan, and Afghanistan. His batting has also faced scrutiny, despite a century against West Indies, he struggled to cross 50 in subsequent matches.
