A former Congress leader from Srikakulam district has alleged that thousands of migrant labourers have lost their voting rights due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process conducted by the Election Commission of India. He stated that these labourers, who temporarily move for work but maintain their families and permanent addresses in Srikakulam, were unfairly removed from voter lists. The leader urged the Election Commission to investigate the matter and restore their voting rights, noting that over five lakh people from the district migrate for employment.
