Israel Election Committee Bans Arab Parties

Israel's Central Elections Committee has voted to disqualify two main Arab-majority political lists from the upcoming parliamentary election. The Joint List, an alliance of Hadash, Balad, and Ta'al, and the United Arab List (Ra'am) were banned. Jewish politician Ofer Cassif and Balad leader Sami Abu Shehadeh were also disqualified. These decisions are subject to review by the Supreme Court, which has previously overturned similar exclusions. The ban potentially leaves Palestinian citizens of Israel without key representation in the Knesset.
