Goa Police have defended the detention of seven Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) members during a protest in Panaji, citing the organization's history of holding protests without prior permission. The Bombay High Court had previously ordered their release, questioning the authorization of their detention. In an affidavit, police cited past instances of unauthorized protests, including one related to NEET exams where a placard mentioned Umar Khalid. They stated that protests are prohibited in Azad Maidan as per a District Magistrate order, and the CJP members had violated conditions previously.
