India's textile and apparel exports saw a significant 17.5% year-on-year increase in September 2026, reaching $3.1 billion. This growth was primarily driven by strong performance in textiles, cotton yarn, fabrics, and handicrafts. However, overall cumulative export growth for the first half of FY27 remained modest at 2.4%. This was due to a decline in apparel shipments, which offset the gains made in other textile categories. Textile exports alone grew by 19.9% in September, while apparel exports rose by 13.7%.
