Government employees and pensioners in Ludhiana observed a two-day mass leave protest starting Wednesday, demonstrating outside the deputy commissioner’s office. The Joint Action Committee Punjab, comprising various unions, is demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, release of pending dearness allowance, and regularization of contractual staff. Protesters also highlighted issues with salaries for employees recruited after 2020 and the need for regular recruitment to fill vacant posts. Union leaders warned of intensified agitation and potential campaigning against the ruling party if their grievances remain unaddressed.

लुधियाना में सरकारी कर्मचारियों और पेंशनभोगियों ने बुधवार से दो दिवसीय सामूहिक छुट्टी का विरोध प्रदर्शन किया, जो डिप्टी कमिश्नर के कार्यालय के बाहर हुआ। ज्वाइंट एक्शन कमेटी पंजाब, जिसमें विभिन्न यूनियनें शामिल हैं, पुरानी पेंशन योजना की बहाली, लंबित महंगाई भत्ते की रिहाई और संविदा कर्मचारियों के नियमितीकरण की मांग कर रही है। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने 2020 के बाद भर्ती हुए कर्मचारियों के वेतन से जुड़ी समस्याओं और खाली पदों को भरने के लिए नियमित भर्ती की आवश्यकता पर भी प्रकाश डाला। यूनियन नेताओं ने चेतावनी दी है कि यदि उनकी शिकायतों का समाधान नहीं किया गया तो आंदोलन तेज किया जाएगा और सत्तारूढ़ दल के खिलाफ संभावित अभियान चलाया जाएगा।
